Mid-morning
“We tend to be CoWorking friendly and understand your needs if you work online,” writes the hostel. Emails with coffee by day; cocktails by night.
No spin: Booking.com guests rate the WiFi 7.9/10, and Palomino has occasional power cuts. For important calls, keep mobile data as a backup. And at night, the bar is loud.

The hostel says it straight: it’s “mainly famous for the burgers”. They arrive this tall, with melted cheese and a knife stuck through, on a checked tablecloth.
According to the restaurant’s Tripadvisor description, they’re Romanian-spiced. There’s a veggie burger and a vegetarian lunch. And you don’t need to stay here: the bar mixes backpackers and locals.

In the afternoon
A wild beach about 100 metres away, a river to float down and the Sierra Nevada behind. None of this is a hostel package — it’s Palomino, and here’s how to enjoy it sensibly.
At dusk
…the lights come on. People drift up from the beach, the sandy street fills with tables and the bar starts to play.
At night
Free salsa and bachata classes, jam sessions, DJs, 80s night and games night. It’s the typical week the hostel itself publishes on Hostelworld.

The house coaster says it plainly. A huge glass, mint, lime, bamboo straws and a toast you can see from the street.

Later on
An Irish flag signed by those who passed through. A sign proposing to swap books for drinks. Crate stools under the trees. And at the same bar, backpackers from half the world and people from the village.
And the next day
