Stay

Beds a hundred metres from the sea.

4-, 6- and 8-bed dorms and a double room in a thatched house with a garden, bar and kitchen. It’s a social hostel: people come here to meet people, and at night you’ll hear it.

María Mulata’s palm-thatched roof and wooden balcony with its yellow hand-painted signs.
Travellers chatting on crate stools in the lamp-lit tropical garden at night.

Pick your bed.

We don’t have room photos on this site yet, so we don’t invent any: each card shows capacity as a drawing plus a real photo of the hostel. Room photos are on Hostelworld and Booking.com.

On every bed.

Per the hostel’s own Hostelworld description: “All beds and rooms have a mosquito net, a fan, big locker, sheets, blankets and towels (if you need)”.

  • Mosquito net
  • Fan
  • Big locker
  • Sheets and blankets included
  • Towels: ask AskThe hostel says “towels if you need”; Hostelworld lists them for hire.

Before you book

What room types are there?

Currently listed: a 4-bed mixed dorm (2 bunks, on Hostelworld and Booking.com), a 6-bed dorm in bunks, an 8-bed dorm and a double room with a double bed (these three on Booking.com). The hostel also mentions tents and hammocks, but they can’t be booked online — ask.

Are there rooms with a private bathroom?

The 4-bed dorm uses a shared bathroom (not en suite). For the double room, listings disagree: Booking.com lists two versions, and an answer from the property says the double has no private bathroom. If you need one, confirm with the hostel before booking. There are no twin rooms.

What comes with each bed? Lockers and towels?

According to the hostel, every bed has a mosquito net, a fan and a big locker, with sheets and blankets. The 4-bed dorm beds also have a curtain. Towels are described differently (“if you need” vs. for hire on Hostelworld) — ask or bring your own. Check whether you need a padlock for the locker.

Is it a quiet hostel?

No, and it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s a social hostel with a bar, music and events most nights. No quiet hours are published, and some guests mention music until 2–3 am. Light sleeper? Bring earplugs… or join the party.

What are check-in and check-out times?

The hostel publishes on Hostelworld: check-in 14:00–24:00 and check-out before 11:00. Booking.com shows both as “available 24 hours”. Reception is 24 hours. Arriving late? Let them know. Late check-out is available for a fee.
